GE Aviation

GE-logo_FPOGE Aviation was located on an existing site in Buncombe County, but had outgrown their space. Working in conjunction with Buncombe County, the City of Asheville, and the State of North Carolina, Lewis Real Estate found an adjacent property that was being underutilized by the current occupant that would fit GE Aviation’s growing manufacturing business. The stakeholders found a new location for the current occupant, and built a new facility for that company, allowing GE Aviation to build its new factory and remain in Buncombe County.

According to a press release that accompanied the groundbreaking in November of 2013, the new factory will be a unique composites facility for the jet propulsion industry, represents $125M GE investment in Asheville, NC, and will employ 340 at full capacity.

Enka Project

Originally an aging industrial site, the Enka project now hosts Education, Commerce, Retail and Medical facilities on the 375 acre site located in Western Buncombe County. Retaining the clock tower that is the essence of the site, Lewis Real Estate is developing the site into a thriving business community. New Belgium Brewing selected the site for a 150,000 square foot building that will hold the brewer’s East Coast distribution center. Jacob Holm built a 100,000 square foot facility and is in the process of doubling their space with a 100,000 square foot addition. Mission Hospital used an existing building on the property to host its first Mission MyCare facility. An athletic complex is underway, providing value and recreation opportunities to the surrounding community and region.
