Facilitating Broad Scale Economic Impact:
The GE Aviation Project

In 2013, GE Aviation had outgrown its space located in Buncombe County. Lewis Real Estate, working in conjunction with Buncombe County, the City of Asheville, and the State of North Carolina, found a property ideally suited for GE Aviation’s growing manufacturing business that was underutilized by another occupant. The stakeholders found a new location for the current occupant and built a new facility for that company, allowing GE Aviation to build its new factory and remain in Buncombe County.

The factory is a unique composites facility for the jet propulsion industry, representing a $125M GE investment in Asheville, NC employing 340 at full capacity.
